From Seed to Success: Discover Our Origin Story

From CRM to marketing automation to your website CMS…someone needs to understand how they all work together and how to make them do useful things for your business.  Depending on the size of your business, you might describe that role differently (Technical Architect, Solution Architect, developer, “tech guy”), but I am that person and I am now Briscolino Services.  Some of the services that my twenty years of marketing technology experience allow me to provide include tech stack audits, platform implementations, system integrations, and training.

So….how did we get here?

The digital marketing space matured over the last five years.  There’s no doubt the pandemic contributed at least a financial pressure, but the ball was rolling anyway.  Marketers were starting to “get it”.  They had been working with platforms like Hubspot and Salesforce long enough to know their way around.  At the same time, these platforms “got there”.  Enough functionality became available to non-technical users that marketers could perform most of their day-to-day activities without technical resources.   Things like visual automation builders and drag/drop email template creators really gave them the tools to multiply their productivity and get more done themselves.

What that meant to me in my previous life:

  • Clients cancelled ongoing support budgets.  Discretionary spending became at client’s discretion - everything needed to be approved.
  • Clients took ownership of their marketing technology and most prospects came with their own tech.   Companies were viewing their martech itself as an asset and realizing that marketing services are provided on top of that.
  • Client and prospect engagements began to include training of their marketers.   Companies were shifting to the belief that marketers can operate the platforms even if it required initial setup from someone more technical.

What I noticed since entering the job market:

  • There are a lot of part time opportunities.   Companies just need a few hours a week of multiplied productivity.   They have a marketing engine and they need to keep it running.
  • Most “high horsepower” jobs are also limited term positions (12 months or less).  They are not permanent hires.   Companies need an expert to get their marketing machine running for them and internal resources will keep it running.
  • There is a wide range of company cultures and values.  Some of them are more front and center than others and some of them are less focused on getting things done.

Briscolino Services came to be because not all companies need a full-time, permanent technical resource (nor can they afford it), but there are a lot of companies that need the boost that one could provide.
